FAQ's

1. Can I work Part Time while studying?

Yes, 20 hours per week when the course is in session and fulltime during vacations.

If a student successfully completes their education they are entitled to a “Job search visa” in New Zealand for the period of a year. If a student gets a job in their field of education in New Zealand they are entitled to a 2 years’ work visa. If you have the required skills and job you can even apply for Permanent residence.

GMAT is required for an MBA in most universities, apart from these students need to have cleared IELTS test for English language. Entry requirements differ from Universities and institutes the counsellors at IJEC will be able to guide you according to your profile.

4. When should I start the application process?
It is advisable to start an application process minimum of 6 months in advance

You need to pay your fees for New Zealand colleges only after you get you AIP or visa approval.

The counselors at IJEC will be able to guide you about the same.

Main Intakes are Feb and July however some colleges may offer Sept intakes as well.

STUDENT VISA

In recent years, more and more international students have started coming to New Zealand for their studies. The New Zealand academic world is vibrant and increasingly internationally-oriented. In New Zealand, you can study English in a language school, study post-graduate courses in one of New Zealand's many universities, or take courses in a polytechnic, an institute of technology, or a college of education.

Why Intakes:

Entry Requirements:

Academics:
• Undergraduate Diploma & Bachelors Degree: 12th with 50% to 70% range.
• Masters, PG Diploma, Graduate Diploma & Phd: Bachelors with 55% and above.

English Language:
• Undergraduate Diploma, Bachelors Degree & Graduate Diploma: IELTS 6.0 with no bands less then 5.5. Few Private institutions will accept IELTS 5.5 (5) for specific UG Diplomas.
• Post Graduate Diplomas & Masters: IELTS 6.5 with no band less than 6.0.

Student Work Rights
• Eligible students can work up to 20 hours in any given week during the academic year.
• Students undertaking a course of 12 months or more may work full‐time during the holidays.
• A partner of an eligible student may apply for a work permit for full time working valid for the duration of the study course, only if the student is an applicant for the full time. Undergraduate course (Level 7) or higher qualification in areas of absolute skill shortage as specified in the Long Term Skill Shortage List. However partners of all students on study course of Level 8 and above can work full time without any condition.

Working after Studies and Settlement Options
The student after completion of his studies in NZ and graduating can hold a 12 months Graduate Job Search visa which enables him to start working in any job (not relevant to qualification also)

Positive profile case
• Good academic record ‐ over 60% aggregate in Class 10th and 12th and over 50% aggregate in Subsequent tertiary qualification; not failed in any examinations.
• IELTS score of at least 6.0, or evidence of having met English language entry requirements for the course of study in NZ, whichever is higher.
• Student’s immediate family’s verifiable evidence of funds to meet the educational and living.
• expenses in NZ ‐ including paper trail to explain any recent high value deposits in accounts or
• Evidence to demonstrate that they are opting for the FTS.
• No more than two immediate family members as financial sponsors/guarantors.
• Verifiable evidence of regular source of sufficient income of financial sponsors/guarantors. Intended course of study relevant to qualifications and/or work experience and shows education progression.
• Meet health & character requirements.
• All positive profile applications should be submitted with original passport.

How Much Funds are to be shown for NZ Student Visa
• If the course duration is less than or equal to one academic year, then provide documentary evidence of funds for tuition fee for the entire course duration + NZ$ 15,000 towards living expenses in New Zealand.
• If the duration of course is longer than one academic year then provide documentary evidence of funds for tuition fee for 1 academic year + NZ$ 15,000 per annum towards living expenses in New Zealand + payment plan to show they have access to funds and have ability to meet the rest of the course cost and living expenses in New Zealand.

VISITOR /TOURIST VISAS

You may apply for a Visitor's Visa if:
• You are outside New Zealand and need a visa to travel to New Zealand;
• You are inside New Zealand and need to go out and then re-enter New Zealand; or
• You are a visa waiver visitor and wish to stay longer than the set time granted on arrival.
Visitor's Visas are valid for 9 months in an 18 month period. Under certain circumstances you may be eligible to extend your 9 month stay by a further 3 months.

To extend your Visitor's Visa, you will have to show that during your stay:
• You have supported yourself financially, and have enough money to continue supporting yourself; and
• You have not worked, been sponsored, or held a Student Permit.
If you have already stayed in New Zealand for 9 months or more, you will need to remain out of the country for the same amount of time you visited (or longer) before you can again return as a visitor.
You must also be able to meet all health and character requirements to be granted a visa for your visit to New Zealand.

Travel to New Zealand as a visitor must be to:
• Visit as a tourist, see friends and relatives;
• Study (one course of up to 3 months);
• Play sport or perform in cultural events without pay;
• Undertake a business trip; or
• Undertake medical treatment.

You must also:
• Have a passport that's valid for at least 3 months past the date you are to leave New Zealand;
• Be a genuine tourist, and can show evidence of your intention to leave; and
• Provide proof that you have enough money to support yourself during your stay.
Businesspeople travelling to New Zealand for less than 3 months may enter the country as a tourist, however, if they need to stay longer or plan to work in this time they will need to apply for a Work Visa and Permit.
