Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List (CSOL)
The current Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List (CSOL) is relevant for applicants for:
- Points-based skilled migration who are nominated by a state or territory government agency under a State Migration Plan
Department of Immigration and Citizenship Australia introduced ANZSCO w.e.f 1 July 2010. Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO) is a system developed to collect, publish and analyse occupation statistics across government agencies and is being introduced by the department as the new standard to capture occupation information in all visa, settlement and citizenship programs.
NOTE: Department of Immigration & Border Protection (DIBP) and Australian States/ Territories accept the following English Language Proficiency Tests:

General Skilled Migrant Program

The eligibility of skilled migrants, who desire to immigrate to Australia, is assessed on a point-based system. In this system, points are awarded after considering the age, work experience, qualifications and language proficiency of the aspirant.

Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189)
Australian Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189) was brought into being to cater to the skill shortages of Australia. It is a Permanent Visa and falls under the Australian Immigration points-based system. Applicants must furnish that they possess the qualification or the skills of an occupation in the Skilled Occupation List (SOL). Applicants do not need sponsorship from family or the Australian State/ Territory Government nomination. Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189) applicants are required to obtain a minimum of 60 points on a point assessment.
Requirements:
In order to qualify for a Skilled Visa, the applicant (or their partner) must be able to satisfy the basic visa requirements related to Age, English language ability, Specific Work Experience, Skills, Qualification, Health and Character. Based on these credentials, the applicant has to score a minimum of 60 Points in order to qualify.
Features of this Program:
- This Category permits the applicant an indefinite stay in Australia.

Eligibility for the Australia Skilled Immigration Program:
The applicants have to satisfy the basic requirements to migrate under the skilled sponsored visa and must meet the 60 points to file for a visa.
- Age: The age of the applicant should be between 18 - 49 years.
- English language:The applicant should prove that he/she meets the English language of competence or vocational level by submitting the test results before the application is lodged. He/ she should also meet the English Language threshold of minimum 6 bands of IELTS in all the components.
- Nominated occupations : The applicant should nominate an occupation on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL) that matches with his/her skills, qualifications and work experience.
- Skill Assessment : It is mandatory for an applicant to get a positive skill assessment for a nominated occupation before the visa application is lodged.
Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190)
This is a Permanent Resident Visa which is an option to the individuals who cannot meet the Skilled Independent Visa pass mark and for those applicants whose occupation is not listed in the SOL1.
The basic requirement of this visa is to get sponsorship from a sponsoring State/ Territory in Australia. Applicants should also meet the points test by scoring 60. This visa is designed by the Australian government to address skill shortages in Australia.
The Skilled Sponsored Visa is only a Permanent Resident Visa and the applicants under this category must live for 2 years in Specified State from which he/she has been nominated.

If the applicant needs 10 or 20 points under Proficiency in English (IELTS 7 or more bands/ 8 or more bands respectively in all the components), English Language test results are required.
- Nominated occupations : The applicant should nominate an occupation in the Consolidated Skilled Occupation List (CSOL) that is relevant to the applicant�s skills, qualifications and recent work experience and the occupation should also be available in the respective state that will sponsor the state nomination.
- Skill Assessment : It is mandatory for an applicant to get a positive skill assessment for a nominated occupation before the application is lodged.
- Maintenance funds: The applicants should show sufficient maintenance funds to obtain sponsorship from state territory.
- Health & character requirements : The applicant has to meet with health and character requirements.
Skilled Regional Sponsored Visa (Subclass 489)
This provisional Visa is granted for a period of 4 years for individuals who cannot meet the Skilled Independent Visa pass mark. This visa provides a pathway to a permanent visa in Australia.
The basic requirement of this visa is to get sponsorship either from a sponsoring State or Territory regional area or eligible relative living in a designated area. Applicants should also meet the points test by scoring 60 including the points from the relative/ state sponsorship. This visa is designed by the Australian Government to address skill shortages in designated areas of Australia.
The Skilled Regional Sponsored Visa through the state is a provisional Visa only and applicants under this category must live for 2 years and work for at least 12 months in a Specified Regional Area of Australia which is a mandatory condition to further apply for a Permanent Residency.
Features of the Sub Class 489 Visa:
- Applicants are allowed to live, work and study in a relative sponsored designated area /state sponsored regional area of Australia for a period of 4 years.
- Provides a pathway to a permanent visa in Australia
- Applicants are allowed to apply for a permanent visa after the applicant has lived for 2 years in a designated area/regional areas of Australia.
- The applicant can score 10 points if sponsored by State/ Territory Government or 10 points if sponsored by an eligible relative currently living in a designated area.
- Applicants can take their immediate family members, provided they meet the requirements of health, character and English language.
- Allows the dependents to study and work in designated areas of Australia.
Eligibility:
The applicants have to satisfy the basic requirements to migrate under the Skilled Regional State or Relative Sponsored Visa and must secure 60 points to file the Visa.
- Age: 18 - 49 years.
- English language: The applicant should prove that he/she meets the English language of competence or vocational level by submitting the test results before the application is submitted. The applicant should also meet the English Language threshold. If the applicant needs 10 or 20 points under Proficient English he/ she should score 7 or more bands in IELTS.
- Nominated occupations:The applicant should nominate an occupation on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL) if the he/ she wishes to live in the designated area, the applicant should apply for relative sponsored Visa.
- Skill Assessment :It is mandatory for an applicant to get a positive skill assessment for a nominated occupation before the application is filed.
- Maintenance funds: The applicants should show sufficient maintenance funds to obtain sponsorship from state territory if applying for state /territory nominated regional visa.
- Health & character requirements : The applicant has to meet all the health and character requirements.

- Have an ownership interest in a main business or main businesses that had an annual turnover of at least A$ 300,000 for at least 2 of the 4 fiscal years immediately before the application is made or had a sound continuous business employment record in a senior management role on a qualifying business for at least 4 years immediately before the application is made and have demonstrated a high level of management skill.
- Have net value of business & personal assets (including spousal assets) at least A$ 250,000 and are available for transfer to Australia within 2 years after the grant of visa, plus sufficient assets available to settle in Australia;
- Be aged less than 55 years at the time of application
Migrating to Australia as Business Owner
To be eligible under this category the applicant should have an overall successful business career
- Annual turnover of at least A$ 500,000 in the main business or main businesses for at least 2 of the 4 fiscal years immediately before the application for visa is submitted.
- Net value of business & personal assets (including spousal assets) is at least A$ 500,000 which are available for transfer to Australia within 2 years after the grant of a visa, plus sufficient assets available to settle in Australia.
- Age less than 45 years at the time of application.
- Vocational English i.e. scoring 5 bands in IELTS examination.
Business Innovation Stream Visa
Australia encourages successful and talented business people to own or invest and benefit from opportunities in the country. The Australian Business Innovation Stream (Provisional) visa facilitates the same. This is a temporary business skills visa that supports successful business people to start a new or own existing business in Australia. This visa is valid for a period of 4 years and it allows the eligible visa holders to apply for permanent residence if the requirement of their provisional visa for at least 2 years is fulfilled.
Australian Business Innovation Stream Visa Basic Requirements
Applicants for this program should not more than 45 years of age. However, if the applicants are over 45 years of age, but not more than 55, they may be eligible for the State/Territory Sponsored Business Owner (Provisional) visa, which has a lower financial threshold.
In either of the cases, applicants should be capable of displaying a successful business career with significant turnover. They should be able to show commitment towards owning business in Australia. In addition to the detailed business proposal, applicants should be able to produce evidence of sufficient funds or assets to settle in Australia. An Expression of Interest (EOI) is to be lodged by applicants and acquiring a minimum score of 65 on the innovation points test is mandatory.
Australian Business Innovation Stream Visa Entitlements
The Australian Business Innovation Stream (Provisional) visa entitles holders to own an Australian business (fully or partially). This is a temporary visa and is valid upto 4 years. It also allows immediate family members (dependents, children) or partners, who have been included on the application, to live, work and study in Australia.
The visa holders may be eligible to apply for permanent residence under the Business Innovation and Investment Visa category which, however, may entail sponsorship from a participating State or Territory government.
Business Investor Stream
Australia encourages successful and talented business people to own or invest and benefit from opportunities in the country. The Australian Business Investor Stream (Provisional) visa facilitates the same. This is a temporary business skills visa valid for upto 4 years that allows successful business people to invest in a new or existing business in Australia. Visa holders are allowed to apply for permanent residence if they can fulfil the mandate requirements.
Australian Business Investor Stream Visa Basic Requirements
Applicants for this program should not more than 45 years of age. However, if the applicants are over 45 years of age, but not more than 55, they may be eligible for the State/Territory Sponsored Business Owner (Provisional) visa, which has a lower financial threshold.
In either of the cases, applicants should be capable of producing evidence of a successful record of investment or business activity in a qualifying business or investment. Australian Business Investor Stream Visa Entitlements
The Australian Business Investor Stream (Provisional) visa entitles holders to invest in Australian business. This is a temporary visa and is valid upto 4 years. It also allows immediate family members (dependents, children) or partners, who have been included on the application, to live, work and study in Australia.The visa holders may be eligible to apply for permanent residence under the Business Innovation and Investment Visa category which, however, may entail sponsorship from a participating State or Territory government.

Australian Business Talent Visa Basic Requirements
Business people who are less than 55 years of age can apply the Business Talent (Migrant) visa. However, if the business people are 55+ years of age, with State or Territory government sponsorship can also avail this program. While applying for this visa, applicants should also propose a detailed business proposal. Since this is a permanent visa, they should be able to demonstrate that they have adequate assets to settle in Australia. Prospective Marriage visa (subclass 300)
The Prospective Marriage visa (subclass 300) is for people who want to come to Australia to marry their prospective spouse. It is a temporary visa for nine months. You must be outside Australia when you lodge your application and when the visa is granted. You can have the wedding in any country: the wedding does not need to be in Australia.
What this visa let you do
This visa allows you to:
- enter Australia before you marry your prospective spouse
- travel in and out of Australia as often as you want
- work in Australia, although some employers might not hire people with temporary visas
- study in Australia, but with no access to government funding for tertiary study
- apply for a Partner visa, in Australia, after your marriage.
Child visa (subclass 101)
A Child visa (subclass 101) lets an eligible parent sponsor their child to live in Australia indefinitely. The parent can apply on behalf of a child younger than 18 years of age.
An eligible parent is:
- an Australian citizen
- the holder of an Australian permanent resident visa
- an eligible New Zealand citizen.
The visa application must be lodged outside Australia and the child must be outside Australia when the visa is decided

Parent visa (subclass 103)
The Parent visa (subclass 103) lets parents live permanently in Australia if they have a child who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen who is settled in Australia.
Most applicants must be sponsored by their child. The sponsor needs to have lived lawfully in Australia for the two years immediately before the application is lodged.
You must apply for this visa outside Australia. If you are in Australia, you can apply only if your temporary visa lets you apply for another visa while you are in Australia. You must be outside Australia when the visa is decided.
What this visa let you do
This is a permanent residence visa. It lets you and any family members who have also been granted this visa to:
- stay in Australia indefinitely
- work and study in Australia
- enrol in Medicare, Australia's scheme for health-related care and expenses

Who can apply for Dependent visa?
Generally, you can apply for dependent visa:
- if you are partner / member of family unit of a holder of some type of temporary visa in Australia (for example, student visa),
- if your partner is an Australian resident (permanent residency).
Who are 'members of family unit' of a student?
Eligible to apply for this visa to join a holder of student visa is:
- a spouse (including de facto spouse) of the student visa holder, or
- a dependent child (unmarried, and younger than 18 years) of the student visa holder.
If you are not married with your partner, but you would like to apply for spouse dependent visa, you have to submit an evidence that you have lived together for a period of at least 12 months priorto lodging visa application.
Married couples can apply after submission of marriage certificate.
